meet the founder
welcome — i'm taylor, a licensed psychotherapist + board approved clinical supervisor in the state of Maryland, and founder of root + restore.
i attained a bachelor of science in psychology from syracuse university and a master of arts in clinical mental health counseling from trinity washington university. i have attended trainings for therapy modalities including dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, internal family systems therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. i have also attended trainings with specific focus areas including developmental trauma, suicidality, self-harm, eating disorders and disordered patterns of eating, attachment + relationships, anxiety, co-occurring disorders, and grief. over the years, i’ve refined my clinical practice to specialize in working with marginalized groups of people, specifically focusing on these areas: self-concept, body image, disordered eating, and anxiety.
i am, above all, a human being—proudly a Black woman and a committed advocate for social justice and racial equity. it is a profound honor to be trusted with the sacred disclosure of another’s pain, joy, grief, confusion, and everything in between.
i use an eclectic and integrative approach to treatment while prioritizing a person-centered foundation as paramount within the therapeutic alliance. my work amplifies a decolonial, trauma-informed, and liberation-focused approach to healing. i strive to create a brave space where resilience is acknowledged and autonomy is affirmed as central to the journey toward wholeness and freedom.
whether you're seeking therapy, supervision, or simply a space to reconnect with yourself, you are welcomed to explore healing with curiosity, compassion, and agency at root + restore.
